How do you teach?
How would you respond to the questions below?
- How do you teach?
- Why do you teach the way you teach?
- Who or what influenced the way you teach?
- With what students does your teaching seem the most effective?
- With what students does your teaching seem the least effective?
Quite often we have found that instructors tend to teach in ways that are very similar to the ways in which they were taught when they were students. Instructors also tend to teach best, those students who are like themselves—typically smart and motivated. There is nothing wrong with this, but it does suggest an additional question that you to consider:
How effective is your teaching style in reaching students who are not like yourself?
