Questions to Consider: You as a teacher...
Consider the following questions:
- Why did I become a teacher?
- What do I stand for as a teacher?
- What do I want my legacy as a teacher to be?
Livsey, R. C. (2000). The courage to teach: A guide for reflection and renewal. San Francisco: Jossey-Bass. (questions taken verbatim)
These questions explore three different stages of your life as a teacher: the past (why did you become a teacher?), the present (what do you stand for as a teacher?) and the future (what do you want your legacy as a teacher to be?). How we respond to all three can inform our current practice of teaching by reminding us of just why it is that we have chosen this profession.
