How important is my appearance?
- Wear whatever you feel is appropriate to your role as a GTF. Your appearance always communicates your perception of your relationship to the class. At one extreme, I feel a suit is formality overkill. At the other extreme, I have had a class get out of control because I was too casual, too early. It is not a mistake one makes twice. Ultimately it will be your ability to establish a good relationship with your students and your instructional expertise that will win their confidence and respect.
