Should I be a surrogate professor (standoffish) or team member (cooperative)?
- Let yourself off the hook. You are not a professor. Your are a primary resource for them and a conduit to the professor for their concerns. You are an experienced student in the discipline, with access to a great deal of resource material that your students do not have. You have taken the tests, you have written the papers, you have jumped through the hoops. Now you not only have more detailed knowledge of issues in your field, but you have a familiarity with the logic of the discipline that your students could never get in one term. Everyone in your classroom is there to learn, and you are there to lead that process.
