How honest should I be with my students regarding my own inexperience as a teacher?
- It's fine to tell your students what teaching experience you've had - or not had. However, do not focus on your inexperience. Doing so may make the students feel less secure about the course and may result in them blaming their own failure on your self-professed limitations. Be enthusiastic and make it clear to the class that, despite your inexperience as a teacher, you are committed to helping them learn and you know the material well.
