Here is a sample contract you can make with anxiety-ridden students.
In one math class, the instructor had students sign a contract agreeing to:- attend all classes (only 2 absences for the term were allowed)
- turn in all homework assignments
- correct all problems missed, even on exams
- take all the exams
If the student agreed to do these things, the instructor promised to pass him or her in the course. Passing, in this case, meant at least a D. As it turned out, all the students who kept their contractual agreements made Cs or better in the course.
