How can I balance discussion between covering content and accommodating questions?
- Determine how attached you are to covering content for a particular class period. Let your students know ahead of time if you will not have much time for questions. Encourage them to write their questions down as they arise and e-mail (or otherwise send) them to you, or visit you during office hours. It is always a good idea to PLAN to leave time for some questions as it is frustrating for students to be put on hold again and again. As before, tell them at the beginning of the class period how you would like to handle their questions for that day.
