Resources for Dealing with Conflict in College Classrooms

I have done seminars on conflict-resolution twice this semester. Each time, I have used a nifty little manual prepared in 1994 at the University of Maryland ("Dealing With Disruptive or Inappropriate Student Behaviors," by Barbara Kaplan) as a starting point. I've found useful stuff in a lot of the literature on stress management and on academic ethics as well --- try Whicker and Kronenfeld (1994) "Dealing With Ethical Dilemmas on Campus," Sage Publications, Thousand Oaks, CA, for example. Bob Boice also has an excellent chapter in his new book, "First Order Principles" (Anker Publishing Co, Bolton, MA, 1996). Your campus security office and the dean of students should have publications that translate the university's policy into useful language too.
