Delivery Methods
In a lecture or classroom setting, multiple instructional methods should be employed that are accessible to all learners so that information is perceptible to all students (oral, written). Consider using the following delivery methods:
- Provide verbal descriptions of visual material.
- Face the class when speaking and use a microphone.
- Provide crisp, high contrast printed handouts (also make available electronically).
- Repeat student comments/questions.
- Allow enough time for students to process possible questions when posed to them. (Try counting to 10 before providing your own response).
- Allow enough viewing time for students to review slides or overheads or provide copies electronically before (or after) class.
- Use a large enough font on your PowerPoint presentations so the words can be read easily from the back of the room.
- Provide opportunities for students to demonstrate what they know through Classroom Assessment Techniques (CATs).
