Meet Georgeanne

As director of the Teaching Effectiveness Program I have two goals: to listen well and to respond as resourcefully as I can to all faculty and GTF concerns about teaching and to work collaboratively with others to design programs that influence instructors to make productive changes in the way they think about teaching and the way they teach their students.

It is important to me that faculty and graduate students feel supported and valued in their teaching efforts. I want the Teaching Effectiveness Program to be a place where instructors receive confidential, constructive feedback on their teaching, suggestions for new teaching approaches and strategies, helpful resources and encouragement to take risks and to explore news ways of thinking about teaching and learning.
Please make an appointment or drop by our offices (68 PLC). We would be happy to tell you more about the program and introduce you to the wide variety of teaching resources available to you. All TEP services and resources are free.

My degrees are in English Literature and Adult Education. I have been teaching since 1968, beginning with the fifth grade class I taught in Liberia, West Africa through the Peace Corps. Since then I have taught at all levels (elementary, secondary, university) and also spent six years teaching in a private international school in Kathmandu, Nepal.

From 1987 until 1990 I worked in training and development doing instructional design and skills training for groups of welfare women, dislocated timber workers, and Fortune 500 companies.

To balance a stimulating and demanding work life, I enjoy working in my garden and spending time in my art studio.
