Meet Tim
I come to the Teaching Effectiveness Program with a varied background,
having taught graduate courses in education and undergraduate courses in
diversity and leadership. I also have sixteen years of professional
experience in student affairs at Western Illinois University, The University
of Iowa, Washington State University, Lakeland College, and the University
of Wisconsin-River Falls. Among my professional interests are issues related
to college students, diversity, leadership development, and chaos and
systems theory.
I received a Bachelor's degree in Astronomy and a Master's degree in Higher Education Administration, both from the University of Illinois, and a Doctor of Philosophy degree from Oregon State University in College Student Services Administration. I am a co-author (with Susan Komives and Nance Lucas) of Exploring Leadership: For College Students Who Want To Make A Difference, published in 1998 by Jossey-Bass.
I love the Chicago Cubs, Macintosh computers, Diet Pepsis, and the music of Bruce Springsteen. I have become enamored with the Lewis and Clark Expedition and drove the approximate route that the Corps of Discovery took from St. Louis to the Pacific Ocean and floated the White Cliffs area of the Upper Missouri River.
