Hundreds of organizations exist to explore the uses of and increase the quality of instructional technology in higher education. These are among the most widely recognized and referenced.

EDUCAUSE focuses on the use of information resources in higher education. It maintains on-going advocacy and educational programs, regular conferences, an award series, and extensive educational resources.

"The environmental scanning publication for education leaders," Horizon tasks itself with keeping educators informed about the changing nature of their work and prepared for changes as they occur. Offers a print version, an on-line version, a mailings lists, workshops, conferences and more.

A growing set of resources for moderators and moderators-to-be of online discussion in both academic and non-academic settings. Includes excellent, practical advice about the role of the online instructor/facilitator.

The Canadian focal-point for information and discussion forums on issues related to teaching, learning and technological development. A comprehensive site designed to encourage collaboration and maintain current resource materials.

Over 605 examples of how the Web is being used as a medium for learning. "We found that people learn well from examples, so we created for our faculty this collection of the ways the Web was being used in different disciplines. This searchable collection includes sites that range from courses delivered entirely via the Web to courses that offer specific activities related to a class assignment or perhaps courses that offer class support materials via the Web."
