Beginnings: Insights, Tools and Strategies for New Teachers
The Teaching Effectiveness Program (TEP) conducts teacher trainings throughout the academic year for beginning instructors. Below is the training schedule for the 2003-2004 school year. Topics will include:
- Ten important things to do on the first day of class
- Presenting material effectively
- Lesson planning
- Facilitating discussions
- Promoting critical thinking
- Creating an inclusive classroom
- What is learner-centered teaching?
Register for ONE basic training session. Multiple one-day sessions are offered to make it easier to coordinate with your other departmental meetings and events. Additional one-day trainings will be held at the end of each term for anyone who missed these fall term teacher training sessions
Session 1 - Sept. 15 from 8:30am - 4:30pm (68 PLC)
Session 2 - Sept. 16 from 8:30am - 4:30pm (68 PLC)
Session 3 - Sept. 17 from 8:30am - 4:30pm (68 PLC)
Session 4 - Sept. 22 from 8:30am - 4:30pm (68 PLC)
Session 5 - Sept. 23 from 8:30am - 4:30pm (68 PLC)
Session 6 - Sept. 25 from 8:30am - 4:30pm (68 PLC)
Session 7 - Sept. 27 from 8:30am - 4:30pm (68 PLC)Saturday sessions (8:30am-4:40pm in 68 PLC) will be held December 6, March 13, June 5
