In this workshop we will learn how to use the group feature in Facebook to set up online discussions. We will consider how conducting online discussions on Facebook can foster a better sense of classroom community, encourage student participation, and improve student writing. Using a social networking site for online discussion can encourage students to engage more often with their peers and create an environment of collaborative learning while offering the instructor the opportunity to gauge student comprehension of course materials.
Emily Taylor recently completed her Ph.D. in the Program in Comparative Literature at the University of Oregon.
