Winter Teaching Intensive: Inclusive Course Design Materials Workshop

Working on your winter-term course documents? Let us host you for a chance to get collegial feedback on a draft syllabus and one assignment. We’ll use the syllabus itself as a reflection of the attitudes and possibilities of a course, considering student learning objectives, course descriptions, policies, content, assignments, and feedback cycles as we build inclusion into the very architecture of each participant’s course. Bring your syllabus for an annotation exercise developed by TEP. Then we’ll work with an assignment using a transparent assignment template developed by researchers at UNLV and proven to boost student success, particularly among underserved groups. We will consider what intellectual skills and habits of mind a truly inclusive course develops in students, and offer suggestions for how to build a supportive environment and signal to students that they bring something valuable to the class community.
