UO Students--Who Are They? How Can We Best Teach Them?
Tim McMahon, TEP
Kimi Mojica, Director, Diversity Education and Support Services, Office of Student Life
Did you know that over 25% of UO students are considered low-income or first-generation college students? That the mean high school GPA for this year’s freshman class was 3.49? That there is a growing concern among students about what it means to be multi-racial? Combining local and national information with just a bit of theory, this workshop will examine the world of undergraduate students. By exploring the questions “Who are they?” and “What do we know about their backgrounds, interests, and experiences?” we will uncover information to help us better address the fundamental issue of “How can we best teach them?”
