A Note of Thanks
Most likely, you came to this site because you wanted to learn more about becoming a good teacher. I'd like to thank you now for that effort. Teaching well is a hugely gratifying experience for you and for your students. The impact of good teaching can last a lifetime.
Do me a favor. Think of some of the best teachers you've ever had. Think about what it was about that teacher that made such a difference in your life. And, if you can, find some way to thank them.
How would it feel to receive an email or card from a former student that said--"I'm currently a grad student at the University of Oregon and this term I'll be teaching for the first time. I was thinking about all the great teachers I've ever had and you are one of them and this is why."
I guarantee you'll make their day.
